This sculpture has been inspired by the sacred traditions and culture preserved by the Bear Clan of the Abenaki Indians, indigenous to the American Northeast. It is the chosen task of the Shamaness, a young medicine woman-in-traing, to walk the path of personal transformation. Through trance journeys she becomes aware of alternate realities, making contact with Spirit Guides and power animals who dwell there. She reminds us of our own ability to contact inner sources of wisdom and discover our relationship with all created beings.
